For many of you now, school is back in session and the holidays will soon be upon us. The long days of summer are behind and now there are 1,000 things on the calendar making a lot of demands for your time. You may not be "pooped" right now, but hang onto these Legacy Resources I've called, "Popular Plan For Pooped People," because the chances are you will be.

Be sure to watch watch or listen to the message I've called, "Worn Our And Empty." I've included one of my favorite stories in it called, "Go For The Dog." It is a wonderful reminder that there will be times when you're tired emotionally, physically, and spiritually and you feel overwhelmed and empty. Remember, Hebrews 12:12-13, "Take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong." Then remind yourself, that God's crazy about you. And in the rat race of this thing we call ministry, remind yourself that God's not asking you to perform for everybody else, that His love is unconditional and His strength is unlimited. Find strength in knowing that your Heavenly Father, who really loves you, is applauding.

According to surveys done by the Fuller Institute of Church Growth, 70% of pastors have no one they consider to be a close friend and 50% have considered leaving the ministry in the last 3 months. Those are staggering statistics!
We all deal with times when the repetition and demands of ministry leave us "worn out and empty." We all occasionally struggle to find the emotional energy necessary to keep our ministries, our jobs, our families and sometimes even in our personal walks with Christ.

No matter how spiritual you are, you'll have times when you feel overwhelmed and exhausted. The people you're leading are no exception. Like you, they often have crazy schedules, struggle with feelings of failure, grow weary in doing good and are running hard and fast on empty...all of which leaves them, as my granny would say, incredibly "pooped"!
Jesus has a COURSE for all His kids. It's not an "elective," but rather a "required course for graduation." The ULTIMATE AIM remains the same though the "curriculum" is different for all of us. The ULTIMATE GOAL of this "required course" is to cultivate your DEPENDENCE upon the Lord rather than on anything or anyone else. Any other "source" is painfully UNSAFE.

Your dream for doing something significant with your life that will ripple into eternity may feel way out of reach for you. Some people want everything in life way too easy...and it's not easy. God yearns to separate the Casual from the Committed.
Persevering in Christ isn't just a matter of going to church. Sometimes you have to do the things you dislike to eventually have the things you most desire. We have a lot of great starters in the Kingdom of God...just not a lot of great finishers.
